Overview of the department:
The department of Pharmaceutical Analysis was started in the year 2005 in PESCP imparting quality education. The Master program in PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS of the PES College of Pharmacy was established to promote advanced research in analysis of synthetic active Pharmaceutical Ingredients in bulk and in various formulations, Natural Medicinal Products, Analysis of excipients and to study their interactions.
The subject Pharmaceutical Analysis plays a prominent role in the current scenario of globalization and emergence of Pharmaceutical industries to shape healthy society and a HEALTHY NATION. The department of pharmaceutical Analysis at PESCP is dedicated and committed to train the students in the major area of Pharmaceutical Analysis and making them more competent and trains them to take up the challenges of present pharmaceutical industries. The department inculcates the professional Ethics to students and plays an important role in shaping students into true pharmacy professionals, an invaluable asset to the society.
The department has the fortune of having stalwart like Dr.S.Mohan, as leader; who puts his soul efforts in achieving great progress. He thinks more about improving undergraduate education and helping the department to become more of an asset to the PES group of institutions. At present there are two Professors, one Assistant Professor and one Lecturer in the department. Several papers have been published / Presented by the faculty in reputed National and international journals and seminars / conferences; the department is well equipped to impart excellent education in Pharmaceutical Analysis.

TEACHING PLANS:
Although the traditional lecture format is still employed in some course, a significant portion of the curriculum focuses on the acquisition of skills through the use of problem-based, students-centered learning. The program is designed to develop potentials of those who have the ability to engage in a wide range of advanced analytical skills. It has the following purposes: to preserve, augment, criticize and transmit pharmaceutical knowledge; to advance and generate pharmaceutical knowledge; to aid in conserving or improving the health and welfare of the public. Teaching is conducted through a mixture of lectures, practical classes, workshops, problem classes and small group tutorials.
Department Facilities:
The Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis provides adequate facilities for the Analytical Method Development (AMD) and analysis of chemical moieties. The department is well equipped and furnished laboratories which include post graduate laboratory, under graduate laboratories and research laboratory. The department provides modern facilities and is equipped with air conditioned sophisticated instrument center consists of FT infrared ray instrument (FTIR), High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), UV-visible spectrophotometer, Flame photo meter, Potentiometer, colorimeter, flurometer, Auto-titrator, Polarimeter, Refractometer, Potentiometer, Conductometer and other basic facilities.
Details of department library and other resource center:
The department has an exclusive departmental library as an extension along with the main library. The departmental library consists of several titles of subject related books, journals, periodicals, magazines and the project work copies of PG students.
The department also has an access to digital library - helinet in association with RGUHS which provides resourceful information from various international journals.
The department also has computer facility for PG students, the computers are loaded with chemistry related software’s like ISIS chem. Draw version 2.4, Chem .wind ultra version 6, Chem Sketch and Matlab.
