OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Like many contemporary fields of science, Pharmacognosy has undergone significant changes in recent years and today represents a highly interdisciplinary science which is one of five major areas of Pharmaceutical education. The department is enriched with highly dedicated, experienced, service motived and highly qualified staff. It has one Professor with Ph.D., two Assistant professors, and one lecturer, among whom two have registered for their Ph.D. The department has medicinal plant garden with 50 species of medicinal and aromatic plants. The department is furnished with a separate library consisting of university prescribed books, in addition to the Central library.

Department Facilities:
The Department provides adequate facilities for the Standardization of herbal extracts, Pharmacological screening, isolation, purification and analysis of chemical constituents. The department is equipped with well furnished laboratories.

Important instruments & equipments available in the laboratories are :-

Electronic balances, Cooling Centrifuge
UV-visible spectrophotometer, FTIR
