18th September 2007
Prof Suthikshn Kumar presented an invited tutorial on
"Improved Pedagogy of Mobile Communication using Real world
Analogies and Case Studies", at NCECCube 2007, National
Conference on Embedded Systems, I2IT, Pune, India.
3-5, August 2007: ICEMC2 2007 Successfully
held
The second International Conference on Embedded Systems,
Mobile Communication and Computing, was successfully
organized at PESIT Bangalore India.
The conference report is
made available online.
23rd June 2007: Under Graduate Project
Competition for cluster Institutions under TEQIP
Prof Suthikshn Kumar, was invited to be one of the judges
for the event on "Under Graduate Project Competition for
cluster institutions under TEQIP". This competition
attracted several colleges funded by World Bank
participating. Three winners were selected to receive the
prizes. The competition was held at MS Ramaiah Institute of
Technology, India from June 22nd- June 23rd, 2007.
4th June 2007: Innovative approach to teaching Mobile
Computing
Teaching engineering courses such as “Mobile Communication”
is very challenging indeed. The teacher faces difficulty
while explaining some intricate and difficult concepts to
students. The innovative techniques developed
by Prof Suthikshn Kumar, Director-MCNC, uses several
interesting real world analogies and case studies to effectively
improve the student understanding of the subject on Mobile
communication for both Masters and Bachelors Engineering
degree courses. This technique also uses partial
similarity. Case Studies are presented to students
to improve their understanding of the subjects. A
paper describing these innovative techniques entitled "
Effective Teaching of Mobile Communication using Real World
Analogies and Case studies", will be appearing in the
Computer Society of India Communications, July 2007 issue.
A resource CD has also been developed to facilitate the
teaching of this subject.
23rd March 2007: Research at MCNC promises to curb
Audio Piracy
Audio piracy is undermining multimillion dollar audio
industry and robbing millions of dollars from original
copyright holders and owners of audio content. This not
only discourages new innovations in music, but also brings
down the new investments in audio recording. A solution is
being developed at PES Institute of Technology under the
leadership of Prof Suthikshn Kumar who is also Director of
Mobile communication and Networking Center ( MCNC).
The innovation uses steganography to hide
copyright information inside the Digital audio and
public-key cryptography to authenticate the audio. The
owners of the audio copyright, can now prove their copyright
and authenticate audio. This technology finds vast
application in Digital Rights Management (DRM) enabling
of new
generation music playback devices. The research paper
describing this innovation entitled "Steganographic Approach
to CopyRight Protection of Audio" is being presented
at the Audio Engineering Society 122nd Convention
to be held in Vienna, Austria during May 5-8, 2007.
More information on AES 122nd Convention is available
from conference website : http://www.aes.org/events/122/
23rd January 2007
ICONS
2007: Prof Suthikshn Kumar, Director-MCNC, will deliver
a key note lecture entitled "Current Trends in Public Key
Cryptography" at International Conference on Network
Security, ( ICONS 2007) Jan 29-31 2007, Erode. The ICONS
2007 is co-sponsored by Dept of IT, CSIR, TNSCST, NCST,
Infosys. It has attracted participation from all over the
world.
More information about ICONS 2007 is available on its
website.
26th December 2006:
ICEMC2
2007: Call for Papers for Second International
Conference on Embedded Systems, Mobile Communication and
Computing, August 3-5, 2007 has been published on the web.

9th August 2006:
A
Research Breakthrough in Public Key Cryptography: MCNC
Director, Prof Suthikshn Kumar is in the forefront of
research breakthrough in public key cryptography. A long
standing problem in public key cryptography has been solved
by him. He has innovatively combined two of the well known
mathematical techniques i.e., Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA)
algorithm and Mandelbrot Sets to develop a Public Key
Cryptographic system which requires significantly less
number of bits compared to previously developed techniques.
A steganogrphic approach to public key distribution has also
been developed as a part of this research. The results of
his research has been accepted for presentation at the
premier international conference “Military Communication
Conference Milcom 2006” to be held in Washington D.C. USA
during October 2006. The public key cryptographic systems
have applications in banking, network security, credit card
transaction systems, etc. For more details on Milcom
2006 visit www.milcom.org.
For details about the algorithm, contact Prof Kumar <suthikshn.kumar@pes.edu>
4th-5th August 2006:
